In order for historic objects to be saved for the education and enjoyment of current and future generations, special care must be given to them. Each type of material has different threats and care requirements. Paper artifacts are particularly susceptible to damage. Exposure to light can cause it to fade. Water or even humidity in the air can stain or destroy it. Oils on human hands can cause it to stain or decay. Special boxes or folders are needed to protect them. Photos can fade away on the paper and the image lost forever if not properly care. Textiles can be consumed by vermin such as bugs or simply fall to pieces if not protected.
The Collection Care Fund provides funds to care for and conserve the artifacts entrusted to the Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm. Typical collections care needs include archival supplies, UV filters for windows, conservation treatments and environmental monitoring devices.
