In order to increase visitor access to the museum's grounds, trails and bridges have been constructed. We hope to add a trail on the east side of Great Hill Road. Part of this area was used by Dr. Remick as a race track to train his trotters for sulky racing.
Water plays important roles on our farm.
The pond provides a home for wild birds, reptiles, and mammals such as otters.
In the summer, can fish in the pond. During our Ice Harvestng program each
February, the musem harvests blocks of ice and stores them in our ice house.
These are used through out the year for educational programs. Our farm animals also need good water available 24hours a day\7
days a week.
The wetlands around the pond and others located throughout the property need to be protected, therefore fences are put up to keep animals and people out of them. Culverts placed in key locations also help direct water through the landscape and preserve the wetlands.
